How did we, the fans, gotten this many? Here’s an interesting backstory.
Some years ago, someone posted photos of Grumpy Cat on Reddit. After about two years after people found the original images on the platform, Grumpy Cat shot to fame in 2012. That year, a YouTube video of her got 15.7 million views. Some estimates suggested the Cat earned more than Nicole Kidman, Cameron Diaz, and Matthew McConaughey.
Rumors have it that Grumpy Cat earned $100 million in total for all her TV guesting, book deals, and modeling. Of course, those earnings go to her human, Tabatha Bundensen, who, as it turned out, was 29 years old and was working as a waitress in Morristown, Arizona.
Later, reports revealed that it was Tabatha’s brother who posted the photos on Reddit. The photogenerated 1 million views within 48 hours. Grumpy Cat, as it turned out, has such an annoyed look because she suffers from dwarfism.
Grumpy Cat became a meme just after two days of being on Reddit. She received recognition from popular sites like BuzzFeed and CNBC.
Her following continued to grow from 2012 up until she died in 2019. And, if you’re one among the millions which she made happy just with her photos and videos, you’ll understand why these Grumpy Cat Car decals are something you should get now.
